One of our specials is music. Mrs.Frisen teaches it. We sing fun songs for our concerts. Sometimes we get to do fun activities or play instruments. Other times we get to watch videos. Every year we put up a gold, white, or a red star, for being good, okay, or bad. Which ever class gets the most gold stars gets to eat ice cream and watch a movie. Music is so fun and Mrs.Frisen is so nice. During music we also get to learn about old singers and bands. Music is fun!

the clipboard
This is the clipboard. It keeps track of who has a late and who did something that they were not supposed to. If you do something or have a late you have to sign in. At the end of the week Mrs. Nichols looks to see who signed in. We all have a big purple folder that has a calendar in it and if we signed in Mrs. Nichols puts a check mark on that day. If we had no sign ins the whole week we get to do something special that we choose.

Study Hall
In study hall we do our homework while the other kids do band. The rule is no talking but if we are good we get to talk the last 10 min. of study hall. If you get done with all of your homework and you forgot or don't want to read a book you get to read magazines. Once you are done with your homework you normally read a chapter book because whenever you go to study hall you are soposed to bring a book. The study hall teacher is Miss. Brocket. She is the new library assistant. Also if you are good you can draw once you are done with your homework. Study hall is a nice thing to have so you can get everything done that needs to be done.

Secret Santa
Secret Santa is where you can buy stuff for your family and friends. We decorated paper bags to rap the presents. Then we come with our money to buy stuff. Then they rap the present with the paper bags. We enjoy buying stuff. All of us would like to get presents. I know that because there was a long line we took so long we had to delay intervention.

The Strong Dude
On Monday a strong dude came to our school. Being strong is his main job. He goes around the country performing cool things that involve his strength. One cool thing that he did at the assembly was when he picked up Ms. Bova and put her over his shoulder while walking. He did other cool stuff, but he also told funny stories about his other strong friends.
Dare (D.A.R.E)
We are doing D.A.R.E . Dare stands for, Drug, Abuse, Resistance, Education.

Everyweek we have ladders and crosswords. (If it is a regularly long week) The ladders are, well........ a ladder! The ladder will tell you the beginning word and you go on from then. (It goes from the bottom up) It will give you clues so you can figure out the next word. It'll tell you, say, "take away the first two letters & add one to the end." So everyweek your child should have that to work on. Just to tell you they might need help, those ladders get pretty tricky!

And Nathan, Ryan, Drake, and Chantz are doing it to. We enjoy doing it because we like to make them laugh and learn their words better in a fun way. It is also fun because yourself and the other people who do it get to write their own play with their Amazing Words! Its very fun!!!

The Book Fair
Last week we had Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off of school because of conferrences. It is held every year in the library is the book fair that happens during the break of conferrences. You can buy different kinds of books, silly pens, pencils, and posters! Parents can volunteer to work at the book fair so Ms. Hanson, our librarian, wont have to do so much work.

Grammar Skills
One thing we do in class to help practice grammar is grammar skills. That is on moodle under the course of grammar, and we have every subject and every unit that we've ever done in that course. Everybodys favorite game so far is Subject Verb Agreement: Fling the Teacher. You have to answer the questions right, but the catapult builds as you answer the questions right. Although if you get one question wrong you have to start all over. Grammar skills are very fun and easy to get to. We use it every time we get a new Reading Street story. Katie
Storyworks
In class we read stories in a packet called storyworks. First we read a short story with a partner Mrs. Nichols chooses for us. Some of stories give lots of facts, but are also entertaining. Then we go onto moodle and answer questions about the story we just read. We usually do five pages of questions, but there are not many questions on each page. Last we check our pages we did.

Conferences will give you a chance to see how your child is doing and to see his/her grades. You can also go on the parent portal to get some of your kids grades. You should go check it out some time. Allie

Just in case you didn't know we have divided the class in half do to the fact that there are 33 students and some had to sit on the floor. So ask your child what class they are in. Just a reminder please make sure your child turns in their homework. Thank You!

Voting!
In the Lakewood Lobby there was voting! Yes, in our very own school history was made. The entire lobby part was shut down. We even had to go in a different door when we got there in the morning, the main entrance was open only to voters. Voting took place November 2nd, first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.(I only know that because of social studies(:) It was very exciting! So years later we can all look back and say "Yeah, I was apart of history."

The party is from about 9:00 or 10:00 to about 2:00. We will not have to make up any work during the day because of the party. So if you like bowling you better start reading!

Mrs.Nichols Warrior Way Tickets
Every week that we are good and we don't have to sign in we get a giant warrior way ticket. When we get a ticket we can choose a prize from our prize calendar. On the giant ticket we have to write down the date and our name. So if you are good you will get rewarded. The one I like best is the free space. You can choose anything you want. I also like the ping pong bag because you never know what you will get.
Vocab
Every week, our class does something called vocab. That is where we have at least 7 words, and we have to find their definition, part of speech, and use it in a sentence. You can also do it on the i pods and i pads, so that makes it even more fun. Then when your done, you can change the font, the text color. You can even add pictures! It does take a long time but it's very fun. Levi
Celebrity Readers
On the last Friday of every month the football players and cheerleaders come in and read to all of the classrooms.
